About Us

Re.Innovation.21 is about the everyday philosophy, economics and sociology of innovation.

Did you know that when buying an iPhone or iPad you are endorsing Apple’s standards and Steve Job’s mini empire? In contrast, if you buy an Android powered phone, are you promoting opensource (or not really)? Which one of these two scenarios would lead us to a more open and democratic society?  Should we really care about all this?”

In the 21st century, for any civilized nation, creating wealth and disseminating it fairly amongst its citizens are legitimate aims. Innovation – the collective creative human endeavour that leads to the design, development and diffusion of new technologies, products, and consequently the construction and re-shaping of new production and social systems – is a very powerful instrument for economic growth.

Innovation is, however, an often misunderstood and misused word.

The scientific and philosophical understanding of innovation needs to be demystified to be of practical value. This requires wearing a more reflective and also humorous hat, in context to everyday occurrences.

Whether you are an sceptical everyday philosopher, an amateur scientist, an aspiring entrepreneur or a person who is very much interested in understanding the value of innovations and how these innovations are shaped by the multitude of social and economic actors, then this weblog will bring to your attention some important philosophical questions as well as practical insights.

Let’s start our journey!
